Digital vs printed wedding invitations
Printed cards or a digital invitation? An honest look at cost, reach, changes, RSVPs and tradition for Indian weddings, and why many families send both.
There is no single right answer. A printed card is a keepsake and a mark of respect for elders. A digital invitation reaches everyone the same day and can change when plans do. Here is how they compare, so you can choose one, or do both.

If you send both
Print fewer cards
Keep printed cards for elders and the families you visit in person, where handing over the card is part of the custom.
Print the link on the card
Add your guest page link to the card, so everyone who gets one also has the timings, venues and RSVP.
Send the link to everyone else
On WhatsApp or by email, to relatives far away, friends and colleagues.
Keep the link current
When a time or a venue changes, edit the page. A printed card cannot change, but the link can.

- Cost
- Printed card: Design, printing and delivery for every card, so the cost grows with each card you print.
- Digital invitation link: One price per celebration, not per guest. Small celebrations can start free.
- Reaching guests
- Printed card: Days or weeks: printing, then posting or visiting each home.
- Digital invitation link: The same day you share it on WhatsApp or by email, in any city or country.
- When plans change
- Printed card: A printed card cannot change. A new time means calls and messages.
- Digital invitation link: Edit the time or the venue, and guests see it the next time they open the link.
- What it holds
- Printed card: What fits on the card: usually the main functions and one address.
- Digital invitation link: Every function, each venue with a map link, and updates such as what to wear.
- RSVPs
- Printed card: Replies come by phone and in person, and someone has to count them.
- Digital invitation link: Guests reply on the page, and you see a headcount for each function.
- Elders and custom
- Printed card: Handing over a card in person is a custom many families keep, and some elders expect it.
- Digital invitation link: Opens in the phone's browser with no app, and switches to Hindi. Some elders will still want a card.
- Keepsake
- Printed card: A card you can keep for years.
- Digital invitation link: Photos and wishes from guests stay on the page while its hosting is renewed.
What each one costs, in general
The cost of printed cards depends on the paper, the printing, any box or sweets that go with them, and delivery, so it rises with every card. A digital invitation's cost does not depend on how many people you send it to, within your plan's guest limit.
Eventos Hub prices are per celebration, in rupees, and shown below. Every plan has every feature.
Which one suits you
Mostly printed: a smaller, local guest list, where you visit families in person and elders expect a card.
Mostly digital: guests in many cities or abroad, several functions, and plans that may still change.
Both: most Indian weddings. Cards for elders and close family, and the link for everyone, printed on the card too.
Questions families ask
Is it rude to send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp?
Not for most guests today, especially friends and relatives far away. For elders and close family, many families still hand over a printed card or call first, then send the link so the details are always at hand.
Can a digital invitation replace the printed card?
It can carry everything the card does and more: every function, venue maps and RSVPs. Whether it replaces the card is a family decision; many keep a few printed cards for elders.
Can I put the link on my printed card?
Yes. Print your guest page link on the card. The card sets the mood, and the link carries the timings, venues and RSVP, and stays current when plans change.
Do guests need an app to open a digital invitation?
Not with Eventos Hub. The link opens in any phone browser, and on a page open to anyone with the link, guests RSVP without an account.
